CITY MOVES WHO’S SWITCHING JOBS
HSBC Private Bank
HSBC has appointed Willem Sels to head up its fixed income strategy for the UK private banking division, focusing on building bond-focused client solutions in sovereign and credit markets.
Sels, who in his spare time is an accomplished pianist, holding five Belgian national awards in classical music, joins from Dresdner Kleinwort, where he was head of credit strategy.
He also previously spent seven years working at Goldman Sachs.
Société Générale
The bank has made a number of high-profile appointments to its strategy and research team in London.
Klaus Baader joins as co-head of Eurozone Economic Research from Merrill Lynch, where he was chief Europe economist.
Dylan Grice joins the global strategy alternative view team, reporting to notorious bear Albert Edwards, the bank’s head of global strategy. Grice previously co-founded research firm Vequus in 2007.
Martin Currie
The investment management firm has hired Brendan Bryce as global head of advisory compliance within its risk and compliance team.
Bryce, who joins on 1 November, was formerly a director in risk assurance at PricewaterhouseCoopers. He has 14 years of experience working at blue-chip firms in London, Scotland and the US.
