Network Rail to meet trade unions
RAIL unions are set to go back into talks with Network Rail today in a bid to avoid a post-Easter industrial action.
The Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) said that rail unions Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) and the Transport Salaried Staffs Association (TSSA) will sit down with Network Rail to resolve their dispute.
ACAS said: “We’re pleased with this development and hopeful that a settlement can be reached next week.”
RMT and TSSA announced planned strike action late last week after failing to reach an agreement with Network Rail over job cut plans and a proposal to change working arrangements.
If no agreement is reached, a three day strike period is set for 6 April.
