CITY MOVES WHO’S SWITCHING JOBS
ERNST & YOUNG
The accountancy firm has hired Luke Reeve as a director and Chris Lowe, pictured, as an associate director to beef up its capital markets advisory group in the face of the ongoing liquidity challenges faced by firms in the downturn.
Reeve was previously head of private debt capital markets for the EMEA region at HSBC, while Lowe joins from the fixed income group at Citi.
GARTMORE
The fund management group has appointed Asim Rahman and Christian Billinger as investment analysts and Eleanor Cameron as a manager in dealing and operations, effective from January next year.
The trio, who will report to John Bennett, Gartmore’s new senior portfolio manager for European equities, join from rival GAM.
The team will be responsible for managing the Gartmore European Selected Opportunities and Gartmore SICAV Continental European funds.
UK TRADE AND INVESTMENT
The government’s international business development body has appointed four new non-executive board members: Alan Jenkins, Chris Fitzpatrick, Mark Gostick and Sir Eric Peacock.
Jenkins is a partner and chairman of the board at law firm Eversheds. Fitzpatrick is the chief executive of Renewable Energy East Midlands, while Gostick was until April chief executive of Liquivista and Peacock is a serial entrepreneur and currently chairs Baydonhill FX, Stage Technologies, Buckley Jewellery and Stevenage Packaging.
OLD BROAD STREET RESEARCH
Ben Bird has been appointed as international development director at the independent funds research and investment consultancy.
Formerly at Standard and Poor’s, Bird was instrumental in growing the ratings agency’s funds research business and building its client base across the UK, Continental Europe and the Middle East.
INSPARO ASSET MANAGEMENT
The asset manager has appointed Mahan Namin as an assistant portfolio manager in its investment and research team.
Namin, who specialises in foreign exchange and rates trading and equities and credit research, joins from JP Morgan in London, where he has been a foreign exchange options trader since 2005.
MARTIN CURRIE
The investment management business has appointed Dominik Issler as head of its Swiss operations.
Issler, who joins on 4 January, previously worked at Fortis Investments/ABN Amro Asset Management in Switzerland, where he was chief executive. He has also previously held positions as head of institutional business for Schroder Investment Management and key relationship manager for State Street Global Advisors, both based in Zurich.
