BA loses up to £45m in strike
BRITISH Airways has said that last month’s cabin crew strike cost the company up to £45m.
The company said in its traffic statement for March, it said that the action hit passenger numbers as scores of flights were grounded.
However, BA said it managed to operate 79 per cent of long-haul flights and 58 per cent of short-haul flights during the strikes.
Its monthly traffic report also showed the airline carried 14.6 per cent fewer passengers than in March last year.
BA said half the drop was due to planned cuts in winter capacity.
The airline and the Unite union are locked in a dispute over job security and a cut in the number of cabin crew on some flights.
