BarCap eyes retail share offer venture
BARCLAYS Capital, the investment banking arm of British financial services giant Barclays, yesterday said it had formed a joint venture with Solid Solutions Associates (SSA) to oversee retail share offerings in initial public offerings.
The deal will see SSA advise and assist Barclays Capital on project management aspects of any retail tranche of initial public offerings (IPOs) in London and other markets.
“Retail investors in the UK have significant wealth and in an environment where interest rates on cash deposits remain close to zero, the demand for alternative investment products including IPOs is high and is expected to remain so for at least the medium term,” Barclays Capital said in a statement released on Sunday.
