Nomura hires new chief and top execs
JAPANESE investment bank Nomura today announced the appointment of Tarun Jotwani as chief executive and head of the firm’s Europe, Middle East and Africa divisions.
Jotwani will be responsible for more than 4400 bankers. He joined Nomura in December 2008 after serving as Lehman Brothers’ head of capital markets for the Asia-Pacific region. He was responsible for fixed income, equities and principal investing groups as well as serving as chairman and chief executive of Lehman Brothers India.
Prior to moving to India in 2007, he was co-head of the fixed income division in Europe and a member of the European Executive Committee.
Jotwani will report to Jesse Bhattal, president and chief operating officer of the wholesale division.
Nomura also today announced that William Vereker and Hiroyuki Suzuki will become joint-heads of global investment banking. Vereker was formerly managing director and head of European natural resources at Lehman Brothers.
The appointments come after the shock exit of Nomura’s top executive in Europe, Sadeq Sayeed, who announced he will quit the firm.
