Westwood ends title drought
GOLF: England’s Lee Westwood finally landed his first title for more than two years with victory at the Portugal Masters yesterday.
Westwood’s bogey-free final round of 66 took him to 23 under par, two shots better than Italy’s Francesco Molinari and four ahead of Ireland’s Padraig Harrington.
Victory lifted Westwood to the top of the European Tour money list.
Somerset dumped out
CRICKET: Somerset crashed out of the Champions League with a six-wicket defeat to New South Wales in Hyderabad.
Somerset made just 111-7 in captain Justin Langer’s farewell performance – a total David Warner’s 40 off 16 balls helped the Australian state surpass with ease.
Trinidad and Tobago joined them in the semi-finals by beating South Africa’s Diamond Eagles.
