the INSIDER
Last weekend I ignored my No1 rule and paid the price. It is essential to make sure a stable is in form before backing any horse. You may miss a few big priced winners but overall, in my opinion, it is the best way to show a profit. Arcano ran like a horse that wasn’t in the best of form rather than a horse that had no form. I’m disappointed that he has been ‘benched’ for the 2000 Guineas as I still think that a 100 per cent Arcano could reverse placings and win the Guineas. However, we need to regain some of our ante-post losses so an each-way bet on ELUSIVE PIMPERNEL is recommended at 5/1 or better (three per cent e/w).
The past seven runnings of the Flat versus Jump jockeys race at 1.00pm tomorrow has gone to a horse carrying 11 stone or more. Based on that statistic alone we only have four horses in with a chance and the one I’m going to back is STRIDING EDGE (two per cent). In the Bet365 Mile, it’s probably unwise to back against the best horse in the field Paco Boy, but his price will reflect this so the job is to find a winner without the favourite. PRINCE OF DANCE (one per cent w/o the favourite) has done nothing wrong in three starts and may be up to the task of holding off Royal Ascot winner Fareer and international jetsetters Pressing, Confront and Cat Junior.
