CITY MOVES WHO’S SWITCHING JOBS
Charles Stanley Securities
The stockbroker has appointed Nick Redfern as head of institutional sales, responsible for small and mid-cap distribution.
Redfern started his career at Smith New Court before moving to Dresdner Kleinwort, where he spent six years as a managing director responsible for pan-European emerging company sales.
He also worked at Arbuthnot and Oriel Securities, and as head of equities at Blue Oar.
Gartmore
The asset management firm has appointed Brian Mitchell as its new head of dealing, joining in mid-January next year.
Mitchell has over 16 years of investment industry experience, most recently gained at Barings Asset Management, where he has held the role of head of dealing for the past 11 years.
At Gartmore, he will be responsible for overseeing all dealing activities including equities, derivatives, fixed income and FX in London, Tokyo and Boston.
Santander Corporate Banking
Mike Ellwood has joined the bank as managing director of corporate and structured finance.
Ellwood joins from RBS, where he held the same role for its regional corporate banking network.
In his new role, he will be responsible for establishing the bank’s regional corporate and structured finance business, specifically focused on helping support business owned by regional private equity sponsors.
Shore Capital
The investment banking group has hired Michael Cobb as corporate finance director in its corporate finance business.
Cobb has over 25 years of corporate finance experience with firms including Henry Ansbacher, Granville and BZW, having qualified as a chartered accountant with PwC.
Most recently, he led the public company advisory team at accountancy firm BDO Stoy Hayward, where he was a partner in the corporate finance group.
UBA Capital
The London arm of United Bank of Africa has appointed Markus Schneider as its new head of macroeconomic strategy.
Prior to joining UBA, Schneider headed up the sub-Saharan Africa team at Business Monitor International for over three years, where he was responsible for macroeconomic analysis and financial market strategy on Africa.
Stewarts Law
The law firm has hired Jonathan Sinclair to take charge of its newly-formed antitrust litigation department and head up the commercial litigation team at the firm’s Leeds office.
Sinclair joins from rival Eversheds, where he was an equity partner and the former head of the commercial litigation group.
