Milan near Beckham deal
AC MILAN chiefs are “100 per cent certain” that former England captain David Beckham will return to Italy for another loan spell this winter.
The Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder, 34, spent the second half of the last campaign at Milan in order to stay fit for England duty during the Major League Soccer close season.
A repeat has long looked on the cards, and Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani said that contracts were very close to being finalised.
“Beckham’s arrival is certain to happen, 100 per cent,” said Galliani. “The agreement is done and all that is missing are the signatures.”
England head coach Fabio Capello has made it clear that Beckham must be playing regularly at the top level if he is to earn a place in the squad for next summer’s World Cup. Milan are also keen to re-sign a player who became an instant hit.
