Clichy aims blast at misfiring Gunners
ARSENAL defender Gael Clichy has warned his team-mates they must rediscover their winning habit before tackling two big games in the space of four days.
The Gunners threw away the chance to close in on Premier League leaders Chelsea when they squandered a two-goal lead at West Ham on Sunday. That slip-up came just days after they conceded an injury-time equaliser to draw at AZ Alkmaar in the Champions League.
And Clichy says Arsenal need to stop the rot before tomorrow’s visit of Liverpool in the Carling Cup and the north London derby against Tottenham on Saturday.
“We were in control of the game, but it is not enough because we have to win games and stop losing points like this,” said the Frenchman.
“We have the quality, it is just small details that make the difference and we know that. The Premier League is really tough – even at 3-0 up you can concede a draw or lose the game.
“That shows you the level of the competition and the teams we are playing against. That is good for English football, but we should have won the game.”
Having won 11 of their first 13 games without drawing a single one, Arsenal have now suffered back-to-back stalemates.
