Linklaters names Elliott as senior partner
MAGIC circle law firm Linklaters has said that Robert Elliott (pictured) will be its new senior partner from October, after David Cheyne steps down from his five-year turn in the post.
Elliott has been a partner at Linklaters since 1990, having left the partnership at banking and finance specialist Wilde Sapte to join the restructuring and insolvency team.
He has been the firm’s global head of banking since 2007, after losing to Cheyne in the last race for senior partner, and has recently led the firm’s work for Royal Bank of Scotland.
Elliott beat rival candidates John Turnbull, who is currently head of litigation, and European managing partner Jean-Pierre Blumberg in the vote.
Cheyne, who was head of corporate at the firm before taking the top spot, has not yet decided whether to return to a fee-paying role at the firm when he steps down in October.
