HCL gets new directors
SCANDAL-HIT recruitment firm Healthcare Locums (HCL) announced three new board members yesterday after five months without a management team – though some familiar faces remain.
Chairman Peter Sullivan, who was brought in to oversee the firm in February shortly before founder Kate Bleasdale was sacked, has named Andy McRae as an executive director.
McRae was chief operating officer for HCL in 2009 before moving to run the company’s recent acquisition, Healthcare Australia.
Sullivan has also brought in Colin Whipp as interim chief financial officer, after hiring him as an adviser on the firm’s accounting irregularities several months ago.
New chief executive Stephen Burke, 51, has come out of semi-retirement, having spent the last six years in non-executive roles. Before this he was an executive director at recruitment firm Michael Page. Sullivan said the appointments were “an important milestone”.
