Defence Industries Council
Ian King, the chief executive of BAE Systems, is to become chairman of the DIC following industry elections.
The council represents the UK defence industry in discussions with the MoD, helping to ensure that the best possible equipment and services are provided to the UK armed forces.
In his new role, King succeeds Mike Turner, also previously chief executive of BAE Systems between 2002 and 2008.
Matrix Group
The financial services group has expanded its investment bank with the hires of Robin Henshall and Malcolm Strang as senior corporate financiers.
Strang was previously a senior director at Credit Suisse, focusing on cross-border and UK M&A and public bids. He also worked as a partner at KPMG Corporate Finance before joining Oriel Securities in October 2005.
Henshall, an energy specialist, worked at UBS Warburg, Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette and SG Barr Devlin before joining European Islamic Investment Bank as head of private equity and corporate advisory.
Edison Investment Research
The research firm has appointed Tom Hayes to its mining team.
Hayes, a qualified geologist with experience in both exploration and production, previously worked at Citadel Resource Group in Saudi Arabia and in Australia at the Otter Juan Nickel Mine.
Saxo Bank
The bank has hired Gustave Rieunier as global head of FX options and forward trading.
Rieunier has over 12 years of experience in currency options trading and was formerly head of currency options at State Street. He also worked at Commerzbank and Credit Agricole.
BTIG
The broker dealer firm has appointed Sean Dougherty and Marc Blazer to head up its newly-created fixed income and equity capital markets divisions respectively.
Dougherty was previously at Morgan Stanley, where he managed a team focused on originating, structuring and investing in leveraged transactions for middle market and large-cap issuers. He began his career in the investment banking division of Bear Stearns.
Blazer formerly launched Cantor Fitzgerald’s investment banking initiative and subsequently headed up Overture Acquisition Corporation.
IdeaCarbon
Krishna Biltoo has joined the carbon finance ratings and research firm as chief executive of IdeaCarbon Markets and executive vice-president of the IdeaCarbon group.
Biltoo was most recently a managing director and head of fixed income solutions and Standard & Poor’s. He has also worked at Reuters, as head of information services at CreditTrade and as a non-executive director at the RiskMetrics Group.
