Halfords sales rise after business relaunch
Car parts retailer Halfords has seen sales and bookings rise following the rebrand and relaunch of its own-branded car maintenance business in February.
Weekly online bookings have jumped 93 per cent year-on-year in the ten weeks to 9 May 2011, since Halfords refurbished all of their car maintenance centres and constructed a new Halfords Autocentres website.
Bookings were growing 21 per cent before the relaunch.
Like-for-like sales rebounded from a 2.3 per cent fall in January and February to a 0.9 per cent in the period.
Next financial year the Autocentres business expects to generate enough capital for a new investment of £5m in 30 new centres.
Halfords purchased 240 sites from Nationwide Autocentres, a car servicing, repairs and MOT company, for £73.2m in February 2010.
