Tevez delays decision on future until after final
MANCHESTER UNITED misfit Carlos Tevez has postponed discussions over his future until after tomorrow’s European showdown against Barcelona.
The striker’s two-year loan ends this summer and a permanent deal looks unlikely to materialise, with Inter Milan, Liverpool and Manchester City reported to want the 25-year-old.
But Tevez insists the matter can wait until after the Champions League final, which could mark his last appearance in a United shirt.
“I want to win the European Cup for the club and the fans. After that we will talk about the future,” he said. “I really like it here and want to be part of the success but right now I don’t want anything to distract me from my football.”
United have not given up on striking a permanent deal with the player’s advisor Kia Joorabchian, with further talks planned this month.
But Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano has welcomed the prospect of his Argentina team-mate joining him at Anfield.
“It would be great to have Carlos here with me, I know how good he is,” said Mascherano, who together with Tevez moved to England to join West Ham on loan in August 2006. “But I don’t really know what the situation is, it is certainly a difficult one. He is a great player and a great person.”
