The Albion, nestling just off Upper Street, will make you forget you are in London. A massive, green beer garden and great food (it has won awards for its Sunday lunch) are topped off with a good beer selection, including Flowers IPA and Black Sheep.

SOUTH:
Of the numerous pubs on Royal Hill in Greenwich there are two perfect outdoor spots, at the old-fashioned Richard I and the more flashy Union, owned by the Meantime Brewery, which has a cosy space with tables out the back.

EAST:
After an afternoon in Victoria Park, Inn on the Park is a welcoming old Victorian boozer that should make you feel right at home. There’s a barbecue in summer, and if frills aren’t too important to you, it should be a perfect, old-school summertime boozer.

WEST:
There are some great pubs near Hammersmith Bridge, including the Blue Anchor with tables overlooking the Thames, and the Dove, a sleepy Fuller’s pub that’s perfect mixed with sunshine.
