Fallon sweating on court verdict
JOCKEY Kieren Fallon will learn this morning whether he is free to ride in the Investec Derby today following a High Court bid to prevent him partnering Recital.
Ibrahim Araci, the owner of Native Khan, says Fallon had previously promised to ride his horse, only to switch on Monday, and is therefore breaking a contract.
Mr Justice MacDuff said Fallon acted with “deliberate selfishness” but refused to grant an injunction, saying damages would be a more suitable recourse.
But the judge granted Araci an appeal and will rule on that at 9am, just hours before the famous race.
Johnny Murtagh is set to ride Native Khan in Fallon’s place.
