FOOD & BOOZE: TASTE OF LONDON
THE BEST OF THE EVENT
Regent’s Park becomes foodie central later this week with the annual merry-go-round of chefs, restaurant, produce, recipes and eating –
particularly eating – that is the Taste of London festival. Among the restaurants exhibiting this year are Scott’s, Le Caprice, Petrus,
Corrigan’s Mayfair, Launceston Place, Gauthier Soho, Quo Vadis, Bocca di Lupo and Skylon – though the most exclusive tickets are undoubtedly for a meal in the festival’s new Secret Garden, tucked away in a corner of Marylebone Green, with a menu designed by Michel Roux Jr, Gary Rhodes, Pierre Koffman, Chris Galvin and Silvena Rowe, under the direction of Caprice Holdings chef director Tim Hughes. Simply titled the Menu, it’ll be worth having for Koffmann’s scallops with squid ink alone – though at £395 + VAT per ticket, it doesn’t come cheap. Email: secretgarden@brandevents.co.uk
OTHER HIGHLIGHTS
The Secret Garden will be hosting the
British BBQ Championships, in which chefs including Tristan Welch of Launceston Place at Atul Kochar of Benares will battle it out to impress the judges. There’ll also be appearance by Rene Redzepi, chef patron of one of the world’s most lauded restaurants, Noma in Copenhagen. He’ll be at the San Pellegrino stand on Thursday afternoon for a food, water and wine matching demonstration, followed by a Q&A session.
PARAMOUNT
Hats off to Paramount, the restaurant and club at the top of the Centre Point building, which is embracing the future in the form of QR technology (the square bar codes you can download to your phone). Visitors to the Paramount stand at the festival will receive a QR code to redeem a cocktail at
Paramount itself.
