Sainsbury’s Finance
The supermarket personal finance business yesterday said interim chief executive David Fisher has been appointed as its new permanent chief.
Fisher, who has been in the interim role for five months, joined the group in January from Lloyds Banking Group, where he was group HR director for HBOS. He spent a total of 20 years with Halifax and HBOS in sales and distribution, product management and operational and regulatory risk management roles.
Allen & Overy
The law firm has boosted its corporate energy practice with the appointments of Paul Griffin and John Geraghty as partners in its London office.
Both join from Herbert Smith, where Griffin was head of the oil and gas practice. Geraghty specialises in international M&A, cross-border joint ventures, project development and long-term commodity sales.
Allenby Capital
The stockbroker and nominated adviser has appointed Graham Bell as an equity sales director.
Bell has previously worked at some of the City’s leading brokers, including Altium Securities, Williams de Broe, Teather and Greenwood and Bridgewell. Prior to moving into sales, he was an equity analyst focusing on the oil and gas exploration and production sector.
White and Case
Michael Doran and Christopher Czarnocki have joined the law firm as partners in its global capital markets and global banking practices, based in London.
The pair previously worked together at Gide Loyrette Nouel, where they were partners in its banking and finance practice. Doran has significant expertise in debt capital markets transactions, while Czarnocki specialises in international finance, including structured trade and commodity finance.
G4S
The security solutions group has hired Clare Spottiswoode to its board as a non-executive director.
Spottiswoode is widely respected in the City after having spent stints at the UK Treasury, as director general of gas regulator Ofgas, and as policyholder advocate for Norwich Union’s with-profits policyholders at Aviva.
She is currently a director of Tullow Oil, EnergySolutions, Ilika and Gas Strategies Group.
EMI Music
Bertrand Bodson, the co-founder of social networking and viral marketing site Bragster.com, has been appointed as a senior vice president in the global digital marketing division at EMI.
Bodson, who also formerly launched and ran Amazon’s DVD rental and subscription businesses in Europe, sold Bragster to Guinness World Records earlier this year.
Mayer Brown
The law firm has hired Chris Arnold from Allen & Overy as a finance partner in its London-based derivatives and structured products practice.
Arnold previously worked for eight years in Allen & Overy’s international capital markets practice. He has also been involved in industry initiatives such as advising the International Swaps and Derivatives Association on credit derivative protocols.
