Germany buys Swiss tax data
Germany has purchased a new disc with Swiss banking data relating to suspected tax dodgers, the Finance Ministry said yesterday. “What we’re looking at are 20,000 sets of data, which, alongside names and addresses, also have account details and internal details,” ministry spokesman Michael Offer said.
Offer said the federal government had purchased the data along with the state of Lower Saxony after the information had first been rejected by Baden-Wuerttemberg. Offer declined to say what had been paid, though German media reports said the disc had cost €185,000.
