Jones puts his house in order as loan row grows
Embattled JJB executive chairman Sir David Jones has put his main home on the market, in the midst of a storm over a £1.5m loan from Sports Direct owner Mike Ashley.
It was revealed yesterday that Jones has been trying to sell his seven bedroomed home in West Yorkshire for three months. The property features a billiards room and a five-car garage and is set in three acres of landscaped grounds.
Yesterday a JJB Sports spokesman said his property sale “was nothing to do with the business and is a private matter. I believe Sir David put the house on the market three months ago. His family has grown up and moved out of home and as a result he and his wife are downsizing.”
The retailer has also given its “unanimous support” for Jones and said it had agreed that his loan from Ashley “was a private matter”.
