Man City ask £50m for Tevez as Savic closes on Eastlands move
MANCHESTER CITY look set to emerge unscathed, and perhaps even fortified, from the turmoil they were plunged into by striker Carlos Tevez’s declaration that he wants to leave.
City said yesterday that they had received no offers for Tevez and have let it be known they are not minded to sell their star player unless they receive a huge bid of between £40m and £50m.
That asking price is likely to rule out all but a handful of clubs in the world, and the field is narrowed even further by the Argentine indicating he would prefer a Mediterranean destination. Barcelona appear to have other priorities, Real Madrid are well stocked in attack and the two Milan clubs may lack the cash to tempt City and match Tevez’s vast wage of around £250,000 per week – so there is no obvious buyer.
While City appear likely to retain the man who helped them to their historic qualification for next season’s Champions League, their summer strengthening also continues apace.
Young Montenegro centre-back Stefan Savic is poised to complete his transfer from Partizan Belgrade, following the arrival of £7m left-back Gael Clichy from Arsenal this week.
