FIT IN THE CITY
FITNESS & DIET EXPERT
IT’S the abs exercise regime with a greater celeb following than Jimmy Choo, but how to pick your Pilates in a city offering such an abundance of choice? Here are my
suggestions.
PIPPA PILATES:
Pippa Middleton recently described her Pilates classes as “a weekly necessity that keeps me fit, happy and energised”. Pippa favours TenPilates, an intense form of traditional Pilates. Try their new Cardiolates class where Spin bike meets the Pilates Reformer bed. Ouch. tenpilates.com
BEST-FOR BACK AND NECK PILATES:
One of the City’s best kept back secrets is Physiotherapy London in Canary Wharf. Here you can learn Clinical Pilates under the guidance of top physio and Clinical Pilates instructor Terry Luq in a maximum class size of five.

CLASSIC PILATES:
Whether you’re after a traditional Pilates matwork studio class, or looking for one-to-one sessions to do in the comfort of your own home, Body Control remains the market leader. bodycontrol.co.uk
LIVING ROOM PILATES:
Low on time and cashflow? Discover your Pilates muscle (aka nature’s very own corset) in front of the telly with this easy move. Sit on the floor with legs bent in front of you, fleet flat on the floor and rest hands on backs of thighs. Pull your stomach in and slowly roll back towards the floor stopping after a few inches. Hold this position for 10 seconds keeping your tummy pulled in. Then repeat, moving a little further towards the floor. Keep going until, a) your feet come off the floor, b) you start to shake, or, c) you feel anything in your lower back (or d, reach the floor obviously). Repeat this exercise 3 times.
