Pavlyuchenko to sign new Spurs deal
TOTTENHAM have opened contract talks with Roman Pavlyuchenko less than a year after the Russian striker seemed destined to leave White Hart Lane.
Pavlyuchenko, 28, appeared to be on the verge of sealing a switch to Birmingham City in January but the two clubs were unable to agree a fee.
Now, the striker’s agent has revealed that manager Harry Redknapp is keen to keep the striker, who has scored eight goals in 21 appearances for Spurs this season.
“Redknapp wouldn’t sell Pavlyuchenko now,” said agent Oleg Artemov. “The same can be said of the chairman Daniel Levy.
“Three months ago, Levy suggested Roman sign a new contract on improved terms. We are in negotiations and discussing the details.”
“Roman isn’t even considering the option of returning to Russia any more. He has changed greatly over two-and-a-half years in London.”
