Redknapp swoops to land a new pair of Kyles
TOTTENHAM boss Harry Redknapp last night completed his first foray into the summer transfer market by landing highly-rated defensive pair Kyle Naughton and Kyle Walker from Sheffield United in an £8m double deal.
Naughton, 20, attracted the interest of several Premier League clubs after an impressive debut season for the Blades and looked to be on the verge of signing for Everton until Spurs stepped in.
He began last season as the regular right-back but switched to the left to accommodate fellow England Under-19 international Walker, 19, who also became an instant hit at Bramall Lane.
The pair, however, still have some way to go to force their way into the starting line-up at White Hart Lane with Vedran Corluka, Alan Hutton and Pascal Chimbonda giving Redknapp a total of five right-back options to choose from.
Naughton only made his league debut last August but went on to make 50 appearances for the Blades and was named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year.
Fellow academy product Walker, meanwhile, only broke into the first-team in the latter end of the season, but became a vital component in helping the club reach the play-offs, where they lost out to Burnley in the Wembley final. He is likely to return to the Blades on loan next season.
Redknapp is red-hot favourite to continue his spending by landing England international striker Peter Crouch in a £12m deal from Portsmouth.
