Unilever acquisition of Alberto Culver given shareholder nod
SHAREHOLDERS in US consumer goods group Alberto Culver have voted in favour of its proposed $3.7bn (£2.38bn) acquisition by Unilever, announced on September 27.
Alberto Culver brands include personal care names TRESemmé, Alberto VO5, Nexxus, St. Ives and Simple.
The deal will make Unilever the world’s leading company in hair conditioning, the second largest in shampoo and the third largest in styling.
Unilever has also confirmed it has received a second request for information from the US Department of Justice in the regulatory review process.
The group said it would continue to work cooperatively with the DOJ.
The transaction remains subject to regulatory reviews in other countries and is expected to be completed in due course.
