Aston Martin joins Daimler on new car
ASTON Martin is in talks with Daimler over a potential partnership that would see the British luxury carmaker design and build the German company’s Maybach brand.
Aston Martin, renowned for making vehicles driven by James Bond, is expected to take engine technology from Daimler in exchange for building cars – potentially halving the cost of developing the new car.
Daimler has already commissioned a mock-up of the new car which could feature at the Frankfurt Car Show in 2011.
Daimler manufactures the upmarket Mercedes-Benz car range from factories in Germany and the US.
Despite sluggish sales, Daimler recently denied rumours that it was planning to drop the Maybach.
