Q. I’m going to Ibiza for a long weekend with my boyfriend. We’re just taking hand luggage to avoid the cheeky baggage charge on Easyjet – how will I get my beach, day and party looks all in my carry on?
A. A long weekend on a party island is all about perfecting your beach front day bed ensemble. You want to look relaxed but need to make an effort as daytime on the island is the new evening. Obviously start with the swimwear. Begin the day in a bikini, preferably with some metallic detail and cover up with an oversized shirt dress in sheer silk. Louise Amstrup’s printed ones work a treat and are long enough to use as a maxi dress, belted as a mini dress or open over a swimsuit. Best of all, they roll into a tiny slip of fabric and take up no space in your luggage.
There are so many available now there is something for every bodyshape. Choose something special enough to double as a top with high waisted silk trousers or shorts. Lisa Maree’s one-shouldered swimsuit layered with a necklace is perfect for afternoon cocktails and late night pool parties. Or try her white crocheted swimwear which have a very island getaway look. Zimmerman’s halterneck with plunging neckline have a gorgeous 70’s vibe.
Forget platform heels, Take a pair of neutral sandals with some shiny detail so they will be suitable for the beach and for late night vintage shopping in the old town. Cleo B’s gold and nude sandals are the ideal sand-to-cobbled street footwear.
Don your straw fedora on board the flight and you’ll be ready to go straight to the beach. Pack a pair of old school gold aviators as they go with every outfit and are more timeless than most styles so will set you apart from the pack wearing the latest eyewear fad.
Finally, pack everything into an oversized handbag to use throughout the weekend. Lena Erziak’s zebra print hold-all will look smart on board and just as fabulous next to your day bed.
