PUMP SOME IRON
Male or female, everyone’s problem areas look better for a bit of strength work in the gym. Aside from giving your body a more toned appearance, training with weights or resistance bands will help to accelerate weight loss. Stick to multi-muscle moves like squats and press ups to get the most muscle groups covered in the shortest space of time.
MAKE SURE YOU STAY FITT
You should always apply the FITT principle to your workouts – adjust Frequency, Intensity, Time and Type of exercise at regular intervals so you get results continually. There is such thing as an exercise plateau which applies to fitness levels, muscle tone and your waistline too. Always mix your workouts up by trying new classes and include higher intensity training (e.g.interval training) in your workouts. For the next few weeks too, squeeze an extra workout into your weekly routine in the lead up to your beach holiday.
DRINK THAT MUFFIN TOP AWAY
Every so often a diet comes along that seems so radical I’m compelled to try it. The Lemon Detox (aka The Beyonce Maple Syrup Diet) is such a diet. This is one plan that really does do what it says on the tin (in this case, a tin of Madal Bal syrup – a key ingredient in the detox, and similar to maple syrup). This short-term detox involves drinking lots of homemade lemonade which claims to cleanse the system and aid in weight loss. And it works beautifully. You can either do the full detox (drink only) or the relaxed version which involves eating healthy food along with the drink (I would only ever recommend the latter).
