UK born people take more benefits than immigrants
FOREIGN born people are less likely to claim state benefits than their UK born counterparts in nearly all British regions and countries, official data showed yesterday.
And in some regions almost half the UK born population are claiming benefits or tax credits, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) revealed.
Where foreign born people receive more, the difference is “negligible” the ONS said.
Over 45 per cent of UK born people in Wales, the north east and the north west are in receipt of the welfare payments.
The largest employment group for the foreign born population in many regions and countries is in elementary occupations such as labourers and couriers.
London has the largest percentage of foreign-born people, comprising 34 per cent of its population. The west midlands and the south east have 11 per cent foreign born people.
