Android outstrips Nokia platform
Google’s Android smartphone operating system has overtaken Nokia to become the most popular platform in the final quarter of last year. Research group Canalys found that shipments of smartphones using Android, such as the HTC Desire, outstripped those containing Nokia’s Symbian platform. Canalys estimated 33.3m Android smartphones and 31m Nokia smartphones running Symbian were shipped during the last three months of 2010, up 30 per cent on the same period a year earlier.
