EDF price hikes affect six million
FRENCH energy group EDF’s six million customers will see their energy bills rise from this morning, as price hikes kick in at the last of the big six energy providers.
Gas tariffs will rise by an average of 15.4 per cent, while electricity rates will increase by 4.5 per cent, taking the average household energy bill up to £1,293 from £1,132.
EDF is the last of the energy giants to put up prices, following in the footsteps of its British Gas, E.ON, Scottish Power and SSE. EDF yesterday stuck to its full-year goals as it reported a 3.2 per cent rise in nine-month sales.
