Resilient Quiros prevails in Dubai
A rollercoaster round involving both a triple-bogey and a hole-in-one saw Spain’s Alvaro Quiros see off a host of big names to win the Dubai Desert Classic. Quiros lost his ball up a palm tree at the eighth but hit the perfect tee-shot at the 11th, and went on to win by one shot on 11 under par. Denmark’s Anders Hansen and South African James Kingston were second, while Tiger Woods fell out of contention with a woeful round of 75.
