CRUEL FOR CATS | O’Neill watches as Sunderland crash at Wolves
SUNDERLAND’S new manager Martin O’Neill (inset) received an unwelcome reminder of the scale of the task he will inherit when he officially takes over this morning when his side lost yesterday at Wolves. The Black Cats, including Nicklas Bendtner (pictured above) squandered a lead and missed a penalty before collapsing to two Steven Fletcher goals, leaving them 17th and one point above the Premier League’s relegation zone. O’Neill, who revealed he was childhood Sunderland fan, said: “We had a great season last season and a wee bit of a disappointing start this time, but we hope with a little bit of luck we can turn things around.”
