Russians join FTSE 100
EVRAZ, the Russian miner and steelmaking group part-owned by Chelsea Football Club owner Roman Abramovitch, yesterday said it was “delighted” to be included in the FTSE 100 index.
A second Russian group, gold and silver miner Polymetal, was also added to the blue-chip index after the quarterly review by the FTSE committee on Wednesday.
Evraz said it was the only steel and mining company in the FTSE all-share index.
Evraz chairman Alexander Abramov said the index place was a mark of “the strength and diversity of our assets, the quality of our management and the prospects of the business.”
The London Stock Exchange prides itself on its large international listing base and said it now has almost 3,000 companies from more than 110 countries listed and traded on its markets.
