The Miles Partnership
Sue Shipley is to join the search firm as a partner to specialise in retail. Shipley was previously the global practice leader at Odgers Berndtson, where she led successful searches for the chief executives of Primark and Thorntons, the managing director of Wickes, and the director general of the British Retail Consortium. Shipley began her career in international sales before switching to the retail sector, working in management roles at Asda, Boots, Kingfisher, DSGi and Storehouse.
International Power
Mark Williamson will step down from the board of and leave his role as chief financial officer at the next AGM on 15 May 2012, when he will join GDF Suez, reporting directly to Isabelle Kocher, CFO of GDF Suez. He will be replaced by Geert Peeters, who will join International Power as deputy CFO on 3 January 2012, with a view to being appointed to the board as CFO on 15 May 2012.
London First
The business membership organisation has appointed Philip Dilley, the chairman of engineering consultancy Arup, as its new chairman. Dilley succeeds Sir Adrian Montague, who has been chairman since 2008.
Reed Smith
The international law firm has appointed Perry Yam to its partnership as head of Europe & Middle East private equity. Yam joins the firm from SJ Berwin, where he was a partner in the corporate department.
Vanguard Asset Management
Peter Westaway has been appointed as chief European economist. Westaway was previously chief economist, Europe for Nomura International and senior research adviser for the Bank of England.
Lombard
The asset finance provider has appointed Ian Nelson as head of UK origination and Chris Black as head of UK origination management, as part of a restructure of its corporate asset finance and large corporate and specialist asset finance teams. In addition, Paul Caskey becomes head of large corporate asset finance.

The insurance group has appointed Caroline Burton as a non-executive director. Burton is currently a board director for Rathbone Brothers and TR Property Trust.
Cass Business School
Julia Hobsbawm, founder and chief executive of Editorial Intelligence, has been appointed as visiting professor in networking in the business school’s faculty of management. She will give her inaugural lecture in 2012.
