Lloyds Banking Group hit by technical problems
Lloyds Banking Group has been hit by a technical failure today, with customers unable to use their accounts due to a “temporary system error”.
“Lloyds Banking Group this afternoon experienced technical issues that affected some customers. All of our systems are now up and running,” the bank said in a statement this afternoon.
“We are working hard to process the transactions impacted by this problem and they will be resolved before the close of play today. We know our customers rely on us, and we apologise for the inconvenience we have caused them.”
The issues affected Lloyds TSB and Halifax customers. It is understood branches of Lloyds were handing out amounts of up to £1,000 to customers while the system error was being fixed.
Lloyds has yet to announce the cause for the failure, or how many customers were affected. A spokeswoman told City A.M. this afternoon that all impacted transactions will be sorted by this evening.
