Daily Mail publisher doles out millions in exec’s pay
PADRAIC Fallon, the chairman of DMGT-owned Euromoney Institutional Investor, pocketed a bonus of £5.14m in 2011, in addition to a salary of £223,000, according to the publishing group’s annual report.
Daily Mail General Trust generated revenues of £1.99bn last year, of which £862m was from Associated Newspapers. The firm dished out a total remuneration of £1.69m to Daily Mail editor Paul Dacre, who did not receive a bonus, and £1.17m to DMGT chairman Viscount Rothermere.
The Daily Mail publisher revealed that the newspaper’s website MailOnline averaged 4.5m unique daily browers in 2011 – over a million more each day than its nearest rival.
The company also benefited from the July closure of the Murdoch-owned News of the World, which left a void for the Mail on Sunday to become the largest-selling Sunday national.
