HEL YES! FINNISH POP-UP
Another month, another pop-up. The latest high profile temporary eatery, to open alongside London Design Week, is HEL YES!. It’s Finnish (get it?) with 120 covers, a bar and an exhibition created and executed by a creative team of Finnish designers and food connoisseurs. Highlights include “archipelago bread”, made from wheat bran, rye flour and grounded malt and the classic Karelian Pot; a traditional stew of beef, lamb and pork, named after the region now split between Finland and Russia. To start, there will be Tony Conigliari’s Fisherman’s Friend aperitif (see left). 16 Sep–3 Oct, Londonewcastle Depot, 1-3 Wenlock Road, N1 7SL.
BEER ‘N’ BURGERS AT CORRIGANS
In a break from his rarefied menu of fine wines and exquisite fish and meat, Richard Corrigan’s Mayfair establishment is launching a beer and mini-burger menu. Not just any beers and burgers, though. Venison with duck egg burger is matched with Hobgoblin (5.2 per cent ABV, Oxfordshire); hand-ground veal with smoked bone marrow with Goose Island IPA, (5.7 per cent ABV, Chicago), and squid and mackerel with Brakspear Oxford Gold (4.6 per cent ABV Oxfordshire). Delightful. Served in the cocktail bar from 6pm, three pairings cost £25. Corrigan’s Mayfair, 28 Upper Grosvenor Street, W1K 7EH, 020 7499 9943.
