SuperGroup sales surge
SuperGroup, the company behind the trendy Superdry fashion brand worn by celebrities such as David Beckham, reported soaring sales, underscoring its status as one of the hottest fashion labels around.
The retailer and wholesaler, whose shares have doubled since a March flotation, making it the UK’s most successful IPO so far this year, said on Tuesday its total sales jumped 59.8 per cent to £32.8m in the three months to Aug.1, its fiscal first-quarter.
Retail sales at the firm, whose trademark products are T-shirts, hoodies, check shirts and jogging bottoms, increased 62.7 per cent to £22.3m, driven by new store openings.
Wholesale sales were up 53.9 per cent to £10.5m.
The group trades from 49 stand-alone Superdry and Cult stores in Britain and 64 concessions and has a wholesale business in 34 countries.
“Group trading is where it should be at this stage and is on track to deliver another successful year,” said founder and Chief Executive Julian Dunkerton.
