Economic freedom in freefall
The UK ranks 10th in a new poll measuring how much economic freedom countries have, according to the Fraser Institute and the Institute of Economic Affairs. The survey says economic freedom in the UK has been on retreat since 2000 and Britain’s score fell again in this year. This follows a general downward trend, with economic freedom experiencing its first global downturn in a quarter of a century. Hong Kong ranked number one, followed by Singapore and New Zealand. Zimbabwe has the lowest level of economic freedom among the 141 jurisdictions included in the study.
