Kennedys makes unique move to open Miami arm
CITY law firm Kennedys opened up its first office in America with the launch of a unit in Miami.
The insurance specialist is set to open in the Floridian city at the start of next month in a bid to get closer to the firm’s Latin American and Caribbean clients.
It will be the first foray into the American market for Kennedys, with the firm choosing an unusual destination as most law firms target New York and Washington in the first instance.
Kennedys said it made the move because Miami acts as an underwriting and claims hub for the region. It won’t practice US law.
Madrid-based partner Alex Guillamot will re-locate to Miami to set up the office and will be joined by associate Paula Jimenez and paralegal Karla Salguero.
Senior partner Nick Thomas said: “It’s now time to start supporting clients from inside this region.”
