Quickbooks
Intuit, the makers of Quickbooks, the world’s number one online accounting software, announced the appointment of Chris Evans as vice-president and UK country manager. Chris, part of the Intuit UK team for eight years, steps up from UK sales director and succeeds Dominic Allon who moves to senior vice president of international at Intuit. An immediate focus for Chris will be to spearhead Quickbooks’ approach to financial legislation: Making Tax Digital for VAT (MTD) and Open Banking. HMRC’s MTD is the biggest change to tax compliance in a generation and is set to affect over 1.2m UK businesses when it is introduced in April 2019. Quickbooks backs the UK’s small businesses, self-employed and accounting professionals by enabling them to embrace digital to manage their finances, save time and make money. By doing this, fewer small businesses fail and accounting professionals can become more profitable. Chris, a key part of this growth, is committed to continuing to deliver for customers, building the leading fintech brand for small businesses in the UK. Chris will operate out London, heading up the workforce in Intuit’s new office space.
Trowers & Hamlins
International law firm Trowers & Hamlins has recruited partner Louise Elmes into its construction litigation team. She will be based at the firm’s head office in London. Louise joins from Fieldfisher where she was lead of the contentious construction group and acted as deputy head of construction. Louise has over 16 years’ experience and specialises in contentious construction, construction-related professional negligence and contentious shipbuilding. Louise advises clients, including developers, funders, asset managers, occupiers, high net worth individuals and contractors, across the construction, real estate, energy, hospitality, transport and infrastructure and maritime sectors.
Just Eat
Just Eat, the global marketplace for takeaway food delivery, has today announced the appointment of Alberto Rey Villaverde as chief data officer. Alberto will join the company on 11 March. He will be responsible for taking leadership of Just Eat’s analytics & business insights and data science teams, covering all aspects of business information, management information and reporting, as well as artificial intelligence, algorithmic development and machine learning. Alberto joins from Easyjet, where he was head of data science and yield. Peter Duffy, interim chief executive officer at Just Eat, said: “Alberto’s expertise will help to position Just Eat as the market leader in data and analytics as we further personalise our service and deliver our vision.”
