Troika Dialog
The Russian investment bank has appointed Chris Weafer as chief strategist to develop Troika’s strategy for clients’ investments in Russia and the CIS. Weafer was formerly chief strategist for UralSib Bank in Moscow and chief strategist at Alfa Bank in Moscow. Weafer has additionally been appointed as a non-executive director of Niche, the oil and gas exploration and investment company.
Christie’s
The art auction house has appointed Nicholas Eldred as group general counsel to oversee the firm’s legal affairs and to advise the company’s executive team on governance, risk and compliance.
Racecourse Media Group
Ed Gretton, clerk of the course at Chester and Bangor-on-Dee racecourses, has been appointed as director of racing. Gretton, who will join in November, will be responsible for leading RMG’s strategy on racing issues, including fixture planning.
Nectar Capital
The asset management group has appointed Robin Grant as chief operating officer. Grant, formerly chief financial officer of GLG Partners’ Fund of Hedge Funds division, joins to assist Nectar’s move into the alternative investment space.
Kleinwort Benson
Marianne Kafena will join the bank in November as head of strategic wealth planning to lead a team of tax and financial planning client advisers. Kafena moves from Lombard Odier where she was a senior wealth planner, providing legal support to private bankers in international private client and trust work.
State Street Global Advisors
The investment manager has appointed Ben Clissold as senior liability-driven investment portfolio manager in the Investment Solutions Group. Clissold joins from P-Solve Asset Solutions, where he managed liability driven investment solutions.
Old Mutual Asset Managers
Simon Smith has been hired as head of wholesale business, effective from November. Smith moves from Standard Life Investments, where he is head of UK wholesale financial institutions.
