Hong Kong Horse Racing Tips: Jockey Purton bidding to soar to victory on Happy Dragon
IF YOU asked the majority of formbook students who the unluckiest horse in Hong Kong is, most would plump for the John Moore-trained Happy Warrior.
In his last three races he has cost punters a fortune. He has either been impeded, caught racing wide with no cover, or blocked when delivering a challenge.
The likes of Douglas Whyte, Silvestre de Sousa, and Joao Moreira have all tried and failed, much to the frustration of the horse’s supporters, and now it’s the turn of Zac Purton to wave his magic wand when they line up in the 12.15pm over the extended mile.
The trouble is, despite failing to win those three races since December, his handicap mark has risen by 6lbs, and he will surely offer no value again.
A better proposition could be to side with the Moreira-ridden ALPHA HEDGE, who produced an encouraging effort when just touched off by rival Charity Grand over course and distance last month, and is guaranteed to improve on that form following his first visit to the Valley.
Half an hour later, Moore and Purton team up with HAPPY DRAGON, who is presented with a more straightforward task in the 12.45pm over 1m2f.
The outside draw cost him dearly when getting too far behind before finishing strongly to finish fourth against good opposition over the extended mile in the middle of last month.
This time, from an advantageous stall, he is mapped to sit just behind the early pace-setters and then dash for glory down the home straight.
