Deloitte
Mike Sobers has been appointed as a partner to Deloitte’s enterprise risk service practice, a 1,000-strong team of professionals in the UK dedicated to helping businesses solve complex risk and control issues. Sobers joins Deloitte from Aviva, where he was the audit director with global responsibility for technology and project audit. During this time, he was also the interim audit director for the Aviva UK general insurance business. Prior to joining Aviva, Sobers was a partner at KPMG.
DLA Piper
The law firm has expanded its global insurance and reinsurance sector group by appointing William Marcoux as a partner and head of the insurance sector transactions and regulation practice. Marcoux arrives from Dewey & LeBoeuf, where he was co-head of Dewey’s insurance sector group and a member of its executive committee.
Eversheds
Eversheds has appointed corporate energy lawyer Ramu Ramaswamy as a counsel in its Paris office. Ramaswamy, who specialises in covering oil and gas-related private M&A transactions, has previously worked with Total, Freshfields and Norton Rose.
CBRE
The property consultancy has strengthened its international residential sales and marketing capabilities by appointing Matthew Cobb as associate director, based in London. Cobb joins from Currell Residential where he was head of new homes; prior to that, he spent six years at St James Group, part of The Berkeley Group, working in the land and sales teams.
KPMG
John Leech has been appointed as head of KPMG’s automotive practice. Leech is a partner with 20 years experience at KPMG, specialising in advising automotive manufacturers, component suppliers and distributors. He was also seconded to the Department for Business Innovation & Skills (BIS) to advise the government on its automotive policy, as manager of the automotive innovation and growth team.
Barnett Waddingham
Barnett Waddingham Investments has appointed Neil Dainton as an investment adviser. Dainton initially worked as a broker consultant before being approached by one of his clients to become an independent financial advisor.
J Peiser Wainwright
Ben Smith has joined the real estate adviser from Capita Symons as an associate to lead the property management department. In addition, Jessica Yonwin, who has worked at the firm for six years, has been promoted to associate.
