Johnson also announced the new position of deputy mayor for business and enterprise, which will be taken by his former policing chief Kit Malthouse.
Malthouse is chairman of lender County Finance Group and will be tasked with implementing the election commitment to create 200,000 jobs in the capital.
Sir Edward Lister will continue as chief of staff and deputy mayor for planning while Richard Blakeway remains as the mayor’s adviser on housing. Munira Mirza retains an education and culture role.
Stephen Greenhalgh had been lined up to become deputy mayor for policing but the appointment appears to be have been delayed due to concerns relating to his existing role as a Hammersmith and Fulham councillor.
Meanwhile Guto Harri, who ran City Hall’s media operation during Johnson’s first term, yesterday confirmed that he has quit the role.
He will initially be replaced by former Evening Standard night editor Sam Lyon, responsible for Johnson’s press office during the election campaign.
