GMT Partners
The former BBC executive who launched the iPlayer, Ashley Highfield, has been appointed to the Industry Council of GMT Communications Partners, the European telecoms, media and technology-focused private equity group. Highfield is currently UK managing director and vice-president, consumer and online, at Microsoft. Prior to Microsoft, he spent eight years at the BBC, as director of new media and technology and as an executive board member.
Bank of America
Craig Reynolds has joined the Global Capital Markets division of Bank of America Merrill Lynch as managing director and head of North America rates trading. Reynolds, who will join the firm in August, based in New York, will be responsible for trading all rates and rates-related products in the US and Canada. In addition, Peter Antico will become head of global G10 currency trading and Chris Hodson will become head of EMEA rates trading.
HSBC
Caleb Mercer has been appointed as associate director to HSBC’s alternative investments team. Mercer joins from JER Partners, where he worked in the pan-European Acquisition team.
Baird
The investment banking, private equity and asset management firm has appointed Vinay Ghai as managing director in its London investment banking team. Ghai, who previously worked at Hawkpoint, Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank, will work with managing director Nick Sealy to support the global M&A advisory practice.
Firestone Diamonds
Philip Kenny has been appointed as executive chairman, rising from chief executive. Tim Wilkes, previously chief operating officer of Firestone since 2005, has replaced Kenny as chief executive. Acting chairman Michael Hampton will remain a non-executive director of the company.
Daniels Silverman
The credit management and collection company has appointed Joanne Cooper to lead its operations team. Cooper will be responsible for overseeing the management of client portfolios.
Aldermore
Aldermore, the first post-credit crunch bank to launch in the UK and the only bank that focuses its lending on small and medium-sized businesses and homeowners, has appointed Dionne Baldwin, formerly of Morgan Cole LLP, as legal counsel and company secretary.
