ARE YOU MORE LIKELY TO BUY A CAR IF IT IS MADE IN BRITAIN?
SIMON BYATT
EUROSTAR
No, although I might be more likely to buy shoes or clothes made in Britain. Since the UK manufacturing industry declined we just don’t have the car-making expertise anymore – not like Japan or Germany.

It would be an additional benefit, but being “made in Britain” is not a strong enough reason in itself to sway me to buy. If it was a good car, like the old classic Leyland or Rover, then maybe.

Not necessarily, I’d be more interested in the quality of the car. I would like to buy British, but buying a car is hedged by other issues and it’s more important to have a good, reliable car.
